Afternoon Snapshot: Peach Jam and Flowers
Let’s all be honest here…I am not the 1950s definition of a domestic goddess. Come to think of it, that standard may have been unachievable for even the best of homemakers. But I really to pride myself on embracing the talents I possess and spend time doing the things I love. Cooking happens to not be my favorite thing, you see, so when I got the itch to transform a ripening batch of peaches into peach jam Liam and Jada watched in curiosity. (Don’t panic…there will be a whole week dedicated to my peach-picking, jam-making, and cobbler-baking adventures, but you’ll have to wait ). For 2 hours I blanched and peeled and chopped and boiled and…they just watched like “what the freak is she up to?”.
Liam walked around all morning with a chip bag in his hand and was nice enough to feed half the chips to Jada. And they just watched. They have a really sweet relationship. Little nugget pulls Jada’s ears and rides on her like his own personal horse. He even affectionately calls all animals “JADA!” because I think she is his favorite animal. And she just sits patiently. She patiently lets him pull on her jowls and patiently waits for him to throw all his food on the floor so she can eat it. During nap times she sneaks into our room and sleeps on the floor on the side of the bed where he is sleeping. They are cute.
Today the sun leaked through my back windows and really made everything come alive. Flowers left over from a wedding I planned were too breathtaking to not document and I was so tickled “peach” with my jam that I threw a couple jars in the pictures.
A lovely moment I was so pleased to capture. Maybe I’ll make Afternoon snapshots a regular thing??
