Hello there. Welcome to today’s post: “when Alix becomes a vampire”. (Speaking of vampires, I think you ought to know that I am a more a fan of the traditional freaky-dead-looking vampires rather than the beautiful-sparkly vampires. It just seems so unfair to those blood suckers to make them up to be emotional love-stricken models who break and enter quietly. Poor vamps.)
No no, I’m kidding. This is not the vampire me (that me is much skinnier), but in fact the costume murder mystery me! Had you fooled (and Liam too if we are being honest). So what’s with the hair and extreme contouring? Well…I am part of the world’s coolest book club. That is a title I gave my book club but they live up to it. The book club is called Delicious Reads and you can totally follow along with us there. (Really check out our reading lists…epic)
Just this month we put together the most dope costume murder mystery book club in honor of Murder on the Orient Express. Hosted by Jen of Classy Cosmetics every detail was fabulous. I mean, from the “blood” syringe drinks to the artificial old portraits it was spooky and on-theme everywhere. As a gal who loves a themed party, you can imagine how I almost wept tears of party joy.

Need I point out that a murder mystery isn’t really worth going to without the costumes? Friends, these creative women did NOT disappoint. dressed to match the dead ghosts no doubt lurking, our pale complexions and over-the-top accessorizing was totally throwing peering neighbors for a loop. Also, I am considering wearing a corset and top hat permanently. My particular costume was rented form Hale Theater Archive Costumes.
Even with the fantastic decoration and unbelievable costuming, the most impressive part of our costume murder mystery party was the mystery script itself. You guys, Jen really outdid herself creating characters for each book club member with backstories and personalities. Then upon arrival each person was given clues and tasks to accompany their character. I showed up to a murder mystery party with no idea that I was an accomplice of sorts to a murder!
